  18. Yeah, you shouldn't notice any difference with a surge-suppressor on your 
  19. modem line.  I've got one on my line and there's no difference in my 
  20. connection speeds.

  22. And judging from a friend, who's machine got cooked when a phone-line
  23. surge blew out his entire machine (he unplugged the power during the
  24. lightening storm, but forgot the phone line - internal modem!), it's
  25. probably a good investment.
